5 km Run/Walk

Runners: Male or female, any age. You may run or walk.

Date: Saturday, September 15, 2012 (Turkey Fair Day)

Race Start Time: 9:00 am. Runners should be in the start area to warm up and sign in by about 8:30 am.

Start/End Location: 169 Jonas St (at the Stone Cottage), Lyndhurst, Ont

The Run: 5 km on scenic country roads, along a river, over 2 bridges, up and down hills.

Cost: $5 if under 16, $10 if 16 or older, $15 per family.

Prize: During the race one runner’s name will be drawn for a frozen turkey which may be picked up at The Post in Lyndhurst. Each runner will also receive a Lyndhurst Turkey Fair T shirt.

2012 5 km Run/Walk Results

This note comes from Jack Harvey, our run coordinator. Another great job this year, Jack!

The 5K Turkey Trot Road Race started at 9 am on Turkey Fair Day with 33 runners participating. The fastest male runner was Jamie Porter with a new world record time of 19:25. Nora Bright was our fastest female at 25:35, also a new world record! The winner of the draw for the cool bird (a frozen turkey) was Sarah Curry. We had more runners this year than even before and hope for another increase next year. Many of the runners are repeats from past years. Most runners say they like the varied terrain and general conditions.
